Lawrence’s ability and Music Degree lead to a career as a guitar teacher. Both adults and children learn guitar from Mr. Paul. Lawrence teaches guitar at St. Finn Barr Elementary School, Sunset Music and his Home Studio in the Sunset District. Piano lessons are given on a weekly basis, consisting of a balance of solo performance and musical language skills, instructing the student not only learn to read, write and recite music, but also to learn to speak the language of music, nurturing the ability to improvise and perform in ensemble situations with other musicians. Both classical and jazz gendres are taught using a variety of methods including the original text, “Wow, I Have Ten Fingers!”. Moving to California in 1987, Ard currently sits on the music faculties at both Grossmont and SD Mesa Colleges in San Diego, CA. He has an in-home studio and teaches approximately 20 students of all ages. Last year Ard’s studio included high school graduates who were accepted to the New England Conservatory/Harvard, Stanford, UC Berkeley, and the Berklee School of Jazz. History Established in 1978. Also at age fourteen he began teaching and at age twenty took a guitar lesson from Andres Segovia and a Master Class from Emilio Pujol. Lawrence later graduated with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Classical Guitar performance. Mr. Paul made San Francisco his home in 1977.
